Test Proctor
Elcy is no stranger to Duke University. A native of Kenya, she has spent the last two years as a student in Duke University’s Global Health program and a 2024 graduate. During her tenure as a student, Elcy worked as a graduate assistant in the Testing Center for two years and has now returned as a full-time test proctor.
Elcy has a background in nursing with a fervent interest in research and an unwavering dedication to mitigating health disparities. Before attending Duke University, Elcy’s path involved roles as a registered nurse and researcher within the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH), a collaborative effort involving several North American universities, including Duke University, based in Western Kenya. While at AMPATH, Elcy concentrated on research in cardiopulmonary disease, HIV/AIDS, and maternal and child health. In addition, Elcy broadened her research portfolio to encompass mental health with a focus on community-based programs that enhance child and family dynamics.
In her free time, Elcy enjoys reading, photography, and taking walks outdoors.
