Cheryl has been in the Triangle for over 20 years, first coming to the area to earn an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Berry College, a liberal arts school in northwest Georgia. She is currently working on an Ed.D in Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Her in-progress dissertation focuses on how admissions policies may impact underrepresentation for selective STEM high schools. She worked for 17 years at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, first as an Instructor of Mathematics and then as the Durham Chair of Mathematics. She has enjoyed working with students from kindergarten through college in her career. She is passionate about supporting student success and creating welcoming, inclusive learning communities. Cheryl enjoys running, hiking, gaming, and spending time with friends and family, including her two kids.
