The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Lee D. Baker, PhD, provides strategic vision and leadership for the many facets of the undergraduate educational experience, including academic, co-curricular, and residential aspects of Duke student life. Working closely with the president, provost, senior administrators, faculty, and students, Dr. Baker develops and articulates Duke's vision of a transformative undergraduate experience designed to prepare students to become engaged global citizens and leaders in the 21st century.
The vice provost for undergraduate education also directs the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE), a unit that delivers on Duke’s promise of a transformative, holistic undergraduate experience for students across Duke's four undergraduate schools: Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, the Pratt School of Engineering, the Sanford School of Public Policy, and the Nicholas School of the Environment.
In recognition of the importance of a whole-student approach to the undergraduate experience, Dr. Baker and the Office of Undergraduate Education work hand-in-hand with the division of Student Affairs to support student needs inside and outside of the classroom.
