Charlie Piot teaches in the departments of Cultural Anthropology and African & African American Studies, and does research in French-speaking West Africa. He has taken DukeEngage and Global Health students to villages in northern Togo the past 8 summers to engage in small development efforts – building a cyber café, setting up a microfinance for teens, and creating a village health insurance system.  He has a passion for travel and writing.
