Assistant Professor of Romance Studies
  • My first name is Dutch, my last is Polish and I work on Italian literature from a comparative perspective.
  • The German-language and English authors I write about are ones you probably know, such as Kafka and Woolf. You may not have heard of the Italian ones: Italo Svevo and Igiaba Scego are two of my favorites.
  • Some of my Italian authors even have initials other than I.S., but I can tell you about them in person.
  • I enjoy hearing about my students’ wide range of interests, thinking about how many different Dukes there are, and learning about the Duke worlds I do not know.
