  • Academically, I'm interested in the broad areas of evolution and evolutionary genetics.
  • I conduct research on genetic changes it takes to make new species using fruit flies.
  • However, I also teach science via science-fiction-- I give talks at sci-fi and comic conventions about the real science behind depictions on TV/ movies, and I'm an occasional science consultant for the current suite of Star Trek series via CBS.
