Professor of the Practice of Romance Studies

  • I grew up in a small village in the Italian alps speaking a minority language and learned Italian, that I now teach- in elementary school.
  • I’m fascinated by the intricacies of everyday mundane practices: speaking and eating- language & food! They mean & say so much and that’s what I focus my research on.
  • I was a beekeeper all through high school and college.
  • My first teaching “gig” was in a language school for immigrant Farm laborers that some friends & I set up in a squatted building. The students were brilliant and the experience foundational.
