  • My career has moved between academics and industry.
  • I have landed in academics because of how much fun it is to work with students and the exciting research in university labs that creates new knowledge.
  • My technical area is materials science and engineering but I am also very interested in management topics such as commercialization of technology, entrepreneurship and managing innovation.
  • In addition to my PhD in engineering, I received an MBA from the Fuqua School here at Duke while I was leading an R&D lab in industry.
  • I have worked hard to find jobs I love and made changes to my career direction when that was not the case.
  • Personal interests include hiking with my dog and working on my house/yard.
  • I also enjoy music, especially "puttering around" on the guitar (I would not really call it playing!).
