Duke University invites applications for the Faculty Director role for the newly established Karsh STEM+ Scholars Program, which will launch in the 2025-2026 academic year. This program supports high-achieving Duke juniors and seniors in STEM+ disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Economics) through need-based financial aid, research opportunities, and faculty mentorship.

The Faculty Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the program, overseeing its implementation, and ensuring a transformative experience for the Karsh STEM+ Scholars. The Director will serve a three-year term and work in close collaboration with the deans of Trinity College and the Pratt School of Engineering, as well as the Office of Undergraduate Education. Leadership for this position will rotate between Trinity and Pratt to maintain strong engagement across both schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Karsh STEM+ Scholars Program.
  • Recruit and coordinate faculty mentors to guide students in research labs.
  • Support the selection of a diverse cohort of ten scholars annually, reaching thirty scholars by year three.
  • Develop programmatic initiatives and assess student progress and outcomes.
  • Oversee innovation funding ($20,000 annually) to enhance mentorship, research experiences, and educational programming.
  • Produce an annual report evaluating program success and student trajectories.

The Faculty Director will receive a $15,000 annual stipend, and funding for student enrichment, faculty mentorship, and programmatic initiatives.
