The Bass Society of Fellows celebrates and cultivates a cross-disciplinary intellectual community among Duke faculty members who excel in both research and teaching. The Bass Society of Fellows provides partial or full funding for inducted members to receive a named chair title for a five-year term and lifetime membership as a fellow. Fellows gather throughout the year to share innovative approaches and experiences centered on strong faculty-student interaction.
In 1996, Fort Worth philanthropists Anne T. and Robert M. Bass gave Duke a generous gift to enhance the undergraduate experience through increased faculty-student interaction. The donation established the Bass Society of Fellows for Duke faculty members who have achieved “true excellence in both research and teaching and are good university citizens.” Read more about the Fellows.
