Her current work focuses on the history of grassroots Latino conservative activism from the 1970s to the present.
At Duke, Dr. Márquez has collaborated closely with students on several initiatives, including curating an exhibit on the history of Latinx students at the university. She is deeply committed to fostering inclusive learning spaces and engaging students beyond the classroom.
Originally from Arlington, Virginia, Dr. Márquez has spent most of her life in the Commonwealth and previously taught at New York University before joining the Duke community. Outside of her academic work, she enjoys keeping up with an impressive lineup of reality TV shows, cheering on women’s basketball (both college and professional), and exploring the many gems of Durham and the Triangle.
