Faculty Director of the Office of Undergraduate Scholars and Fellows
Alexander Hartemink is the Faculty Director of the Office of Undergraduate Scholars and Fellows. He is a professor of computer science and biology, and a member of the Bass Society of Fellows. He is an active member of the Center for Genomic and Computational Biology, as well as the Graduate Program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, the latter of which he previously led as director. He graduated from Duke in 1994 with a B.S. in mathematics, a B.S. in physics, and an A.B. in economics, and then received an M.Phil. from Oxford University in economics. He has been on the faculty at Duke since September 2001, when he received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
